The EDQM’s Substances of Human Origin Division is seeking a temporary Senior scientific assistant to join the team. As a Senior scientific assistant, you will:
- Co-ordinate activities related to developing, implementing and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS) of European Blood Establishments, in collaboration with the responsible Working Group, including:
- providing technical and scientific support to assigned expert groups
- planning, preparing, co-ordinating and following-up on visits and audits and acting as auditor
- coordinating the drafting of guidance documents
- Contribute to the preparation and follow-up of the relevant budget for activities; undertake reporting on budget and activities; assign work to assistants, as appropriate; ensure promotion of the activities.

We are looking for candidates with the following competencies:
- a higher education degree or qualification (equivalent to the 1st cycle of the Bologna process framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education Area) in science, e.g. chemistry, biology, pharmacy, medicine or other relevant subject;
- relevant professional experience in the field of quality management / regulation/ inspection of: blood derived medicinal products, biologicals or blood components gained in blood establishments, the pharmaceutical industry, a competent authority or an international organisation
- Professional and technical expertise:
- knowledge of the European regulatory requirements in the field of quality of blood transfusion and/or medicinal products
- experience in auditing or inspecting
- good drafting skills
- good communication skills for liaising with colleagues, experts and stakeholders;
- very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Council of Europe (English) and knowledge of the other (French), in both oral and written communication;
- be a citizen of one of the 46 Member States of the Council of Europe
- be under 65 years of age at the closing date of this vacancy notice
