This technical guide, designed to help business operators producing food contact materials and articles, covers the documentation on the safety and compliance of their products required in accordance with the principles laid out in the Council of Europe Resolution CM/Res(2020)9 on the safety and quality of materials and articles for contact with food. It should be read in conjunction with material-specific guides that supplement this resolution, in addition to relevant European Union and national regulations.

Prepared by a dedicated working group under the aegis of the European Committee for Food Contact Materials and Articles (CD-P-MCA), the “Technical guide on documentation supporting compliance and safety of food contact materials and articles” includes a detailed checklist for supporting documentation and subsequent declarations of compliance that is available for free download and use.
