The proceedings of the workshop "Novel in-vitro model as alternative to in vivo toxoid vaccines testing: Clostridium septicum vaccine as proof of concept" have been published in FreePub, a free online EDQM journal.
The event, held in March 2021, was jointly organised by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM/Council of Europe), the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA) and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). The workshop was attended by over 200 attendees from 43 countries and was an opportunity to share scientific advances for the quality testing of this class of vaccines with a potential to greatly impact the reduction of animal use for this activity.
The proceedings include summaries of the webinar presentations and discussions. It provides a key reference for those who are interested in implementing Vero cell-based testing for Clostridium septicum and other cytotoxic antigens as well as an interesting insight into the work of the Biological Standardisation Programme and the revision of the European Pharmacopoeia veterinary vaccine monographs.
